Safety on the River

There are a lot of things to know about the river. Most important is staying aware of your surroundings, the natural environment of the river and the Take-Out where it is imperative to exit the river at the correct location. Before your trip you will receive a full safety talk from LOC staff that you must pay attention to. You will be instructed on how to navigate, how to paddle and be made aware of any obstacles or potential hazards.

Being aware of the river is important but being self aware of your abilities is also imperative for your safety. If you are new to kayaking, paddle boarding, and tubing we recommend that you feel comfortable swimming in water and using their arms to paddle downstream. If you cannot swim, we highly recommend that you go with someone who is a very strong swimmer or consider renting one of our bikes. If you have questions about age and weight restrictions on any of our equipment please give us a call, 509-548-8823.

Also, we have a no alcohol policy on the river. In order to be aware of the river and your surroundings it is best not to consume any alcoholic beverage that could impair your judgement. It is also in accordance with Washington law to not drink in public. Thanks for your cooperation!

Check-in and Your Trip

Check-in Information

When to arrive

If you made a reservation, your check in time is the time listed on your email confirmation. (for example, a reservation at 12:00 arrives at 12:00). Allow yourself plenty of time for traffic and parking. Traffic in Leavenworth and the surrounding area can be surprisingly slow and busy, so plan ahead. Also, parking at our downtown location can be tricky, so either walk from your hotel or give yourself some extra time to find parking. If you do not have a reservation, stop on by whenever and we will work with you to get you out on the water or out exploring the area on bikes!

FREE KEY CHECK AND BAG CHECK

If you have keys, cell phones, purses, or wallets you don't want to get wet you can leave them with us and we'll keep them safe and dry for you while you're on the river.  We have bag check too if you have lots of stuff.  Key check is not required.

waivers

Every person going out with us must sign a waiver.  Most waivers are done electronically now and are attached to your reservation.  You can sign them on our IPads when you get to the office or complete them ahead of time (recommended) One wavier per person required.  Kids can be signed by a responsible adult.

Taking care of our rivers and mountains

Leave No Trace

We get to play in these awesome places because people before us have helped to take care of it. To limit our impact, as a company we practice and recommend practicing leave no trace. That means that whatever you bring with you on your river trip, you also take out with you. We have trash and recycling bins in the vans and at the take-out for your convenience. Please help us keep this place beautiful by picking up your trash and leaving the river cleaner than when you arrived! Thanks for your help!

Sharing the River

We share the river with other river craft. Be aware of fishing boats and lines that may be spanning across the river. Also, while the river is public property, some of the beaches are private. If you see "No Trespassing" or "Do not enter" signs please respect those. There will be other public beaches downstream to enjoy without angering private property owners.

Have fun, be safe, and see you soon!
